Winner's Circle Daylily Collection
For many years, one of Spring Hill’s most popular special
collection offers has been our annual presentation of exceptional
varieties of Daylilies. Daylilies are one of the easiest to grow of
all hardy flowers. Plant them once-that’s all there is to it. They
grow with little care… reproduce annually… are immune to pests and
diseases… yet they bloom with spectacular beauty week after week,
year after year.
The Winner's Circle Daylily Collection consists of nine exceptionally beautiful prize Daylily varieties.
You receive one each of the following varieties:
- Custurd Candy- Winner of the 1999 Silver Stout Medal as well as three other prestigious awards. The creamy-yellow self features a band of maroon while the petals show off a slightly darker yellow Pico tee edging. 4 1/2" blooms are slightly ruffled rising on 24-26 " tall stems.
- Bright Sunset- Breathtaking burnt orange 6" flowers with a deeper orange halo
and a yellow-green throat. These 36" tall plants bloom early in the season and the
orange flowers stand out well in the garden.
- Bela Lugosi- The deep purple color of these 6" trumpet-shaped flowers is rarely
found in daylilies and doesn’t fade in the summer sun.The blooms have a pie crust
edge around the petals and a lime-green throat. Flowers appear on the 30-33" stems.
- Hush Little Baby- Winner of the American Hemerocallis Society's Award of
Honorable Mention,1997.Sitting atop 22" stems, large 5" blooms sport deep, dusky
pink petals surrounding a chartreuse throat. Blooms appear a little later than other
varieties, extending your daylily display.
- Joan Senior- Big 6" near white flowers with yellow and lime-green throats bloom
in early to midsummer, and often rebloom, on 25" stems. Space 18-24" apart.
- Bold Tiger- 4 1/4" fragrant flowers are brilliant orange with a large, red eye and
yellow-green throat. Petals are dramatically recurved with nicely ruffled edges.
Well-branched scapes with lots of buds appear in midsummer atop 28" stems.
- Bama Bound- 5"-wide blooms show off tightly recurved petals of deep red
with a narrow, sunny yellow band. The ruffly petals surround an apple green
throat. Grows up to 24" tall and blooms for a remarkable 4-6 weeks!
- Strawberry Candy- Winner of the 1998 Stout Medal. Delightful, 4 1/2" strawberry
pink blooms have ruffle-edged petals accented by a rose-red eye zone. 30-32" tall
stems are heavily budded in midsummer and rebloom consistently. Spreads 18-24".
- Prairie Blue Eyes- This 1976 Award of Merit winner is in a class by itself. Rich,
5 1/2" lavender-blue flowers with fluorescent green throats bloom for weeks in
midsummer. Grows 28" tall with a 24-26" spread.
